let it snow

It took nearly three months before we finally saw winter. The weather had been mild and dry, more reminiscent of spring than December on the prairies. Christmas came and went without much more than a dustfall, and then January came, and it was still hovering in the low negatives.

Then last week it all changed. The snow came in a great big windfall, and the temperature plummeted. My first attempt to capture the snowfall resulted in my car getting stuck in several snow drifts and being almost hit by not one but two snowplows. The subarctic temperatures and the seizing pain in my fingers won out against my desire for a photo op, but this weekend the snow came again, this time with a bit milder of degrees.

And so I bring you, after much waiting and debate, winter in Saskatoon.
